Thoughts from the road
When I was on the shuttle from the hotel to the airport the driver asked me what I thought of the economy. I thought he was just making small talk since the economy has been a hot topic of late or maybe working towards a tip (which worked). Come to find out he used to work for Wachovia and got laid off. Driving the shuttle was one of his part time jobs that he has taken to replace his more career oriented position at Wachovia. We had a good brief talk but it drove home how lucky I am to love what I do. He reluctantly admitted that he did not enjoy working for the hotel since it was run so poorly. It was also striking to meet someone who has been so overtly impacted by the financial state if affairs that has been triggered by the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and compounded by some poor govern-menting (new word!). I am more determined than ever to find ways to provided for my family doing what I love that is sustainable. Time to take off!
Have a great night.
Eric
