STOP!!! STOP!!! STOP!!! What About Your Corrective Exercise?
I am at the American College of Sports Medicine 13th Annual Health and Fitness Summit

to deliver two runs of my presentation “Corrective Exercise for Shoulder Impairments”. I have been enjoying the show and the first run of the presentation went great! We deliver it again tomorrow night for the cameras and it will be distributed as a DVD!
Anyways…I was getting a workout it this morning and what did I see???
Fitness people everywhere running and lifting…WITH POOR POSTURE!!!
and then what looked like shin splints…and tight hamstrings…
…followed by stopping running and stretching done with poor technique!!!
I just watched and performed gait analysis after gait analysis on the army of dysfunctional fitness professionals bludgeoning themselves on the treadmills!
it was a shame…no rolling, no stretching, almost no core training and definitely no corrective exercise! It mad me sad:(
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of treatment! An Integrated Assessment and Individualized Corrective Exercise Program can do wonders to prevent injuries and enhance athletic performance. Even if someone does not need corrective exercise then a proper bout of movement preparation is in order. I guess there are times when we don’t know what we are supposed to do, but as my friend Dan Taylor, the head strength coach at Siena College (you might have seen he and his team at the NCAA tournament!) uses at the bottom of his digital signature “great athletes do everyday what good athletes do only occasionally“.
Be a great athlete and do what you are supposed to do everyday!
Thanks for reading!
