I had some great responses to my last post on runner’s knee. One mentioned that they like Tube Walking for a corrective exercise to strengthen the posterior fibers of glute medius to help with this impairment. I like the exercise, but cringe when I see most people do it…take a quick look at this short 2 minute and 21 second video and see if you are using this exercise correctly.
Thanks for reading!

Hey Eric,
Thanks for throwing this up there. I also do a lot of forward to walking with the my athletes. I have the kids concentrate on taking wide not long strides keeping their foot low to the ground. See anything wrong with that?
Thanks,

Hi Ron,
Thanks for the comment. Nothing wrong with this, however the posterior fibers that control/decelerate flexion, adduction and internal rotation of the femur (along with GMax) get almost not work here, that is all TFL and anterior fibers of glute medius, which I find aggregated and over-active in most athletes I see. I only use that version if someone is pretty dialed in with minimal muscular imbalances. I like the cues you use!
How about you?
Eric
Looks like a lot of QL activity with your demonstration.
Perhaps a little more stabilization work of the TA and gluteus medius to minimize the compensation prior to progressing to Tube Walking for you?
