We actually got a Wii system for our family (myself, my wife and three kids) this Christmas and we got Wii Sports with it. I have to tell you…it is awesome! I love playing tennis and bowling with my 6 year old daughter the most. She gets into it like I do letting it rip. My wife and the boys duck and cover when we are getting after it! She is down right dangerous during baseball, just great fun!

I crash into the table when I play by myself playing tennis b/c I actually move my feet, turn my hips and get something into it. Many tennis players that I see run into trouble when they swing like this guy, all shoulder, no core. This leads to nothing but anterior shoulder pain or elbow pain more often than not.

Poor posture and poor technical skill are a deadly combination for unilateral athletes like tennis players. Poor thoracic mobility, scapular stability and posterior capsule mobility just rot out the anterior shoulder capsule and ulna ligament. If you are looking for rotator cuff surgery or Tommy John Surgery to repair your ulna ligament, then keep swinging away! If you want to drive the ball time and time again for years to come, then take care of your body and make sure you have a great pro or coach to clean up your technique. Enjoy your Wii, but be cautious of shoulder, elbow or fore arm discomfort!

Thanks for reading.
